Recent research into green buildings initiatives across ten global cities put Paris, Singapore and London at the top of the Global Cities for Green Buildings ranking.
The white paper on green buildings research was published by Solidiance, Asia Pacific Management Consultancies, describing and benchmarking the green building performance of the leading global cities: Beijing, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
The cities were assessed in four categories: city-wide green building landscape, buildings efficiency and performance, green building policies and targets, and green city culture and environment.
Paris and Singapore are at the top of the rankings overall with London taking the third place.
London’s performance across the four categories varies, it is however the leading city in terms of the overall number of green buildings as a percentage of the total number of buildings in the city.
The paper identifies London’s weaker areas as high energy consumption, CO2 emissions and relatively low renewable energy usage.
