VolkerWessels UK has today announced plans to expand their Hoddesdon head office to support the planned growth. The proposed office extension will create more parking and improved office space for staff, including an enhanced VolkerWessels UK Academy with significantly modernised training facilities to support an extended apprenticeship programme. As part of the application VolkerWessels UK will also seek to develop a number of houses on the existing site.
VolkerWessels UK has been in Hoddesdon since 1972 and now has an annual turnover of £850 million which is expected to increase to around £1 billion in the coming years. There are currently around 300 employees based in Hoddesdon and approximately 2,500 in the UK in total. It is estimated this will increase through future expansion plans.
The proposed homes will be a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses. Some will be designated key worker or starter homes to assist more people onto the housing ladder and the scheme will bring some great innovations in off-site manufacture from VolkerWessels in the Netherlands, creating a way of living that will be both high-tech and environmentally sound.
Alan Robertson, Chief Executive of VolkerWessels UK said: “These are very exciting times for VolkerWessels UK. Having first put down roots in Hoddesdon over 40 years ago, we are delighted to be adding further to the local economy with our enhanced office facilities. VolkerWessels UK is a growing company and our colleagues are amongst some of the very best in our industry. We are keen to invest in the personal development of our employees by improving their training and work space environment.”
A formal public consultation will begin shortly, and will include a microsite and public exhibition on site. Further information can be obtained at www.boxwoodpark.co.uk
